One of a Kind Jumbo Lobster Lamp, 2022

$5,505

Description

Tennant NY's The Vanderbilt Collection consists of two one-of-a-kind monumental floor lamps from Christopher Tennant's 2022 solo exhibition at the Vanderbilt Museum in Long Island, New York, inspired by the tastes and eccentricities of globetrotting amateur naturalist and Jazz-Age aesthete William "Willie the K" Vanderbilt.

Model No. 015 features an oil-paper shade constructed from a vintage souvenir parasol with Shakespearean aphorisms produced by the Hiroshima corporation of Japan in the early 20th century.

It sits atop a lacquered bamboo column and triple-tiered, terracotta-colored base, with brass fittings, leather accents, and a cloth-covered cord.

An expertly preserved Maine lobster (a nod to Salvador Dali’s 1938 sensation, Lobster Phone) completes the surrealist vibe.

Handmade in New York by artist Christopher Tennant.

In stock and ready to ship.

Full Height w/ Shade: 83” (210.82 cm)
Shade Width: 28.5" (73.39 cm)
Cord Length: 8’ (243.8 cm)

Materials: Vintage Japanese oil paper, preserved lobster exoskeleton, backyard bamboo, tinted cement, brass fittings, lamp wire, cotton cord, 40w bulb, acrylic polymer, shellac.
