The Leather | We begin with the highest grade of full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather—carefully selected for its clean, unblemished surface. This leather is tanned using traditional, time-intensive methods to preserve its natural integrity. Each hide is then hand-painted in a durable white leather pigment. Once painted, the leather becomes like a perfectly prepared canvas—smooth, luminous, and ready to receive artwork.

The Canoe Bag is expertly handmade by the wonderful Tufts & Batson. Beautiful, thick bridle leather wraps around in an oval shape and is hand-sewn together with a big, visible stitch. “When designing the bag, we were inspired by OTZI’s wonderful log baskets. It’s such a cool design,” says Forsyth co-founder Annie Genovese. The large tote carries a ton. Maggie Kidd, Forsyth co-founder and Annie’s sister, uses the large Canoe as her daily work tote. “It’s such a great bag. Because of the structure of the leather, I can see and get to everything inside fast and easily. It fits comfortably under my arm, and it fits a laptop.” says Maggie.
