Description
Baughman (1923-2003) was one of the pioneer modern designers of the second half of the 20th century. His work is revered by modern collectors around the world and featured at the Whitney Museum of American Art. Baughman had a particular talent for designing the modern lounge chair. These chairs are one of his most sought after designs. We acquired them from a mid century design collector in Kansas City.
The chairs underwent a meticulous interior restoration before our Forsyth design team and our incredible Master Upholsterer started on the design process. We decided that the chairs needed to be 100% zebra. Each chair required four similar zebra hides and because they are a pair, all eight hides needed to work together. This was a very intensive process that could only be realized by the resource of our extensive hide collection. Every part of the chair is considered in the design process so that, from each and every angle the chair is viewed, it is breathtaking.
The end result of combining Baughman and Forsyth is truly a masterpiece. This pair of chairs should be placed in the Whitney or MOMA! This is the very top of modern design. You can't get any better.
