About the Medium | Encaustic is a mixture of beeswax and pigments applied hot to a specially prepared wood panel. A final burning-in process creates a permanent surface that will never fade. The final painting is like no other medium in many ways including an alluring luster similar to venetian plaster. Periodic polishing with a soft cloth brings a luster to the surface and hardens the wax. It also gives owners an intimate connection to their painting.
