From Maggie Robertson's The Blue Horses series. Maggie’s most recent paintings, The Blue Horses, 2019-2025, add to the storied tradition of artists depicting the horse. Like art itself, the horse can imbue and symbolize almost anything to whom ever lay their eyes on them. The link between man and the horse is perhaps at this point in human evolution hard-wired in our psyche. These paintings, and her accompanying prints, tap into this emotional response humans have to the notion of the horse. Reduce to her adept use of undulating line and painted in velvety ultramarine, the horses seem to float in the environment of our collective history and bring contemplation and a sense of ease.
