An original c. 1951 S.C.A.L. daybed designed by Jean Prouvé.
Edition Steph Simon, France, circa 1951
A Jean Prouvé “Scal” day bed with folded sheet steel structure and black lacquered steel tube feet, with headboard and footboard in ash veneer. New custom cushion and bolster in a beautiful, curly, natural ivory Brazilian cowhide with leather welting.
There is nothing so chic as a Jean Prouvé daybed. We love the way one is used in this room from AD. It is both an art piece as well as a functional, comfortable piece of furniture. Prouve's background in metalwork can be seen in his daybed design. It's aesthetically beautiful. The clean lines, the sophisticated color, the materiality make the daybed one of the coolest designs of French modern furniture. Want to read more about Prouvé? We suggest this book.
